Steve Channell was head football coach at Edgewood High School for 21 years, In more than two decades of coaching, Channell led the Edgewood Cougars to 152 wins, 10 playoff appearances and one state title game.
He moved on to Miamisburg OH, which hadn’t had a winning season since 2003 and only had six combined wins in the four seasons before Channell arrival.
That immediately changed when Channell switched Miamisburg to a wing-T offense and noticeable defensive upgrade that produced a 7-3 debut season. That signaled the start of Vikings football relevancy that produced four consecutive playoff teams and a combined 52-24 overall record under Channell.
